Dr. Dayna Dixon, PhD, RN, NPD-BC, CPHQ is a nurse scientist, award-winning quality leader, and healthcare innovator dedicated to advancing nursing through research, quality improvement, and technology. Dr. Dixon has served most recently in a consulting role as Chief Clinical Officer for an AI Health Tech startup, as well as Director of Nursing Quality at The Mount Sinai Hospital, having worked previously as Magnet Director, Professional Development Specialist, and as a clinical associate professor. She is currently the Founder and CEO of Breaking Glass, a nurse-led consulting company. Dr. Dixon blends evidence-based practice with human-centered innovation. Her work focuses on empowering nurses, improving patient outcomes, and integrating digital tools to transform care delivery. A dynamic leader and speaker, she brings a bold, forward-thinking voice to the future of nursing science.

Call for Abstracts

HSS Nursing is now accepting abstracts for podium and poster presentations for the Annual HSS Nursing Research and Education Day. This year’s theme is “Orthopaedic Nursing: Back to the Basics and Beyond.” Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts on orthopaedic nursing care, nurse-led innovative care programs, pre and post op care, joint replacements, orthopaedic surgery, research, and evidence-based projects. Preference will be given to those with orthopaedic nursing related topics but all innovative nursing submissions will be considered.

Target Audience

This activity is targeted to registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and student nurses with an affiliation to HSS.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Recall two EBP, Research, or QI projects completed at HSS to improve orthopaedic patient perioperatively.
  • Summarize previously completed and/or ongoing research and EBP projects completed by nurses at HSS and beyond.
  • Discuss resources available to aspiring nursing researchers at HSS.
